Mr Gold

XR Direct Action

10–2019
As part of the International Rebellion, Mr Gold taunted traders in London’s financial districts during a non-violent direct action in support of Extinction Rebellion (XR). The action was enacted autonomously under the Sublime Madness banner—an independent affinity group formed in Brighton. Mr Gold (Cieciura) paraded the streets in a suit wearing a giant gold bull’s head—a performative provocation alluding to the irrationality that underpins extractive industries and an infinite growth model.
Rebellions are created because some people have had enough. They are all over it and don’t care if they’re successful or not. It’s sublime madness. It’s the only thing that will save us now.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL, Roger Hallam.
